Keeping your Phaze Labs Modular Magnetic Water Pipe in pristine condition not only helps preserve its lifespan but also enhances your overall experience. ThisĀ cleaning guide is designed to assist you in maintaining your device's optimal performance.
Materials Needed:
- Warm water
- Isopropyl alcohol (91% or higher is recommended)
- Sea Salt or Epsom Salt
- Two zip-lock bags
- Soft bristle brush or pipe cleaners
- Soft, absorbent towel
- Cotton swabs
Steps:
-
Disassemble: Begin by disassembling your water pipe into its individual components. Thanks to our intuitive modular design, each part can be separated using the magnetic connections.
-
Remove Mag Joints: Prior to cleaning, remove the Mag Joints from each component. Be gentle and avoid using metal objects or undue force to pry them out, as this could cause damage. Instead, use the supplied black triangle-shaped pry tool designed for this purpose.
-
Soak: Place the glass components and Mag Joints separately into two different zip-lock bags. Fill the bag with the glass components with isopropyl alcohol and a handful of coarse salt; the salt acts as a mild abrasive to help remove stubborn residue. For the Mag Joints, fill the bag with only isopropyl alcohol. Ensure that all parts are fully submerged and let them soak for about 30 minutes to an hour.
-
Shake: After the soak time, gently shake the bags to agitate the solution inside. This action, coupled with the salt, will help scrub off the residue from the pipe's interior.
-
Scrub: For persistent residues, use a soft bristle brush or pipe cleaner to gently scrub each component, particularly the areas with visible residue. For hard-to-reach areas, use pipe cleaners or cotton swabs.
-
Rinse: Rinse each part under warm running water to remove the alcohol, salt, and any remaining debris.
-
Dry: Pat dry each part with a soft towel and leave them to air dry completely. This ensures there are no water spots and prevents the growth of mold and bacteria.
-
Lubricate: Apply a small amount of the provided food-grade silicone lubricant (found in the small white tube) onto the o-rings of the Mag Joint. This aids in enhancing the lifespan of the o-rings and ensures smooth assembly and disassembly.
- Reassemble: Once all components are thoroughly dry, re-insert the Mag Joints. It's best to gently push them in with a slight twisting motion. Once inserted, reassemble your water pipe using the magnetic connections.
Additional Tips:
- Avoid using boiling water when cleaning Mag Joints, as it may cause temporary thermal expansion.
- If your Mag Joint is tight and difficult to remove, try soaking the entire part in the cleaning solution to help loosen it up first.
- Use the provided black triangle-shaped pry tool for removing the Mag Joint. This tool is designed to avoid damaging the Mag Joint during removal.
- The small white tube provided contains a food grade silicone lubricant,
designed to help increase the lifespan of the o-rings and assist with the removal and maintenance of the Mag Joint.
